From Power Generation to Productive Opportunity

In 2026, the Hope Power Project in partnership with Octopus Energy, reached a major milestone: all five wind turbines were installed outside Bonthe, Sierra Leone.

Together with the solar and battery system now being completed, the Bonthe Wind Farm is Sierra Leone’s first wind farm and West Africa’s first hybrid mini-grid.

Once fully operational, it is designed to deliver clean, reliable electricity for approximately 14,000 people across 1,299 homes and 121 businesses and public buildings.

This is a major infrastructure achievement - but it is not the finish line.

The question now is: what must be built around reliable clean power for energy to become durable educational access, dignified livelihoods, and locally owned economic opportunity?
Today, Hope Power is moving from power generation to productive opportunity.
